IMS has the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) “Permission for Aerial Work” PFAW which means as a licensed commercial operator of UAV’s (unmanned aerial vehicles), we are governed and regulated by the CAA. The PFAW is mandatory for anyone flying drones for commercial use in the UK along with drone public liability insurance. It is the basis of the drone photography laws in the U.K. IMS are fully insured against injury and damage with £5million public liability to fly at altitudes of up to 400 feet.


The British Institute of Non-Destructive Testing (BINDT) is an accredited certification body providing personnel certification against criteria set out in international and European standards through the internationally recognised PCN Certification Scheme. NDT qualifications are provided through a number of Authorised Qualifying Bodies and certificates of competence are issued under the brand name of the PCN Scheme. A PCN certificate is a document issued by the British Institute of Non-Destructive Testing. It indicates that a person is competent to perform the qualified inspection method and has proven the ability to locate flaws within the sector that is stated. This qualification is renewed on a 5 yearly basis and requires practical re-examination and proof of ongoing use.


The Industrial Rope Access Trade Association (IRATA International) includes within its membership operating companies who employ the technicians who have learned their skills from the training companies of the Association. The teaching of the IRATA syllabus enables rope access technicians to progress through three Levels of proficiency with certification issued at each level. The IRATA technician carries a card that is recognized around the world for its importance and value; over 70,000 IRATA technicians have been registered in over fifty countries and in every continent. The thorough, dedicated IRATA training programme delivers a skilled workforce that can reliably employ a proven work-at-height method. This qualification is renewed on a 3 yearly basis with 5 days extensive training required, this covers all aspects of day to day rope access techniques, rigging and rescue scenarios .
